Facial Fillers Austin
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC injectable gel is the first and only filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area. It gives you a subtle lift, helping to restore contour and a more youthful profile, for up to 2 years, in patients over the age of 21. It’s different than JUVÉDERM® XC and works on a different area of the face. JUVÉDERM® XC smoothes out moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, like parentheses. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC, however, adds volume to the cheek area. Click here for more information
JUVÉDERM™ is the latest non-animal dermal filler offering a natural look/feel and long-lasting results for up to six months or longer. JUVÉDERM dermal filler lasts long because it’s the only dermal filler currently available with the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid and a special formulation process. This process creates a smooth gel that flows easily into the skin, creating smooth, natural looks. All other currently approved hyaluronic acid dermal fillers use a gel particle suspension formulation. These gel particles can be visibly seen as opposed to the smoother formulation used in JUVÉDERM. The smooth consistency of JUVÉDERM dermal filler also may help to minimize the discomfort that can sometimes occur during the injection procedure. Click here for more information
Radiesse is an ideal filler substance for the improvement of laugh lines (nasolabial folds), marionette lines as well as general volume restoration of the face. Radiesse is made up of smooth calcium hydroxyl appetite microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel that remains soft and malleable long after injection. Because calcium is a natural mineral found in our bones, it will not cause any allergic reactions and is completely biodegradable. As the body will grow natural tissue around the crystals, the results can last as long as 1-2 years, twice to three times that of Restylane. Radiesse is also an excellent choice for contouring and correction of bumps on the nose to achieve a more smooth profile. Nasal bridge augmentation can also be nicely achieved with Radiesse. Restylane is the first and only cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. Perlane® is a part of the Restylane® family of dermal fillers made from non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
The difference between Perlane and Restylane is the size of the particles in the gel. On average, the particles are larger in Perlane, allowing for deeper injections. In three clinical studies of 150 patients each, on average 70% of patients maintained improvement for six months after just one Perlane treatment.
Sculptra® is an enduring treatment approved by the FDA for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, in people with human immunodeficiency virus. It is the first FDA-approved product of its kind for this condition.
Facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra® is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material that is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. It provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. No skin testing is required.
Fat injections can be used to fill in wrinkles and lines, to create contours in the face, and to fill in scars. Because fat from one area of a patient’s body is used to fill in another, there is little chance of allergy or incompatibility. Fat injections are usually done on an outpatient basis with local anesthetic, and the results should last approximately five to seven years.
The donor site (often the buttocks or abdomen) is first numbed and injected with fluid to make extracting the fat easier. The donor fat is collected through a needle and syringe. After the fluid is removed, another needle is used to reinsert the fat into the treatment area. We will slightly overfill the treatment area at first since some of the injected fat will be reabsorbed by the body.
Most patients can resume normal activities soon after undergoing fat injection. Some minor swelling and bruising can occur during the first few days following the procedure. Fat injections are not usually permanent. Duration of results varies among individuals, but fat injections can be repeated as necessary.
Body fat makes excellent soft tissue filler material. Fat injection transfers fat from one part of the body to another to re-contour the face; diminish frown lines, crow’s feet and nasolabial folds (smile lines); and provide definition to areas like the cheeks and chin. It can also be used to fill out depressed scarred areas on any part of the body. Fat injection is not permanent, and may require an effective maintenance program.
