Dr. Robert Whitfield - Austin Breast and Body Surgeon
Dr. Whitfield received his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 1996. He completed six years of surgical training at Indiana University Medical Center and remained at the Indiana University Medical Center to complete his Plastic Surgery Residency. Upon completion of his plastic surgery residency, he chose to gain additional training in microsurgery and completed a one year Microsurgery Fellowship at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 2005.
Dr. Whitfield is board certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons where he is an active member. In addition, Whitfield is an active member of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. He has published in many peer reviewed medical journals and has given numerous presentations both internationally and nationally.
Dr. Whitfield was selected by peer physicians across the nation as Best Doctors in America in 2013 and 2014. Also, he was voted as one of the Top Doctors in Austin by the Austin Monthly Magazine in 2013.
Dr. Whitfield focuses on providing cutting edge techniques in breast reconstruction including grafting with and without BRAVA, single stage silicone breast implant reconstruction, two stage breast reconstruction, and microsurgical breast reconstruction using the DIEP flap. He believes that surgery is a major decision in his patient’s lives and commits himself to ensuring the best outcome for his patients.
